1950's Vintage Shoes....

During the 80’s, shopping second hand stores was the main source of creating my wardrobe. Vintage items from the 50’s were abundant, affordable, stylish and just glamorous.  Pencil skirts, fabulous jewelry, Lucite handbags, pill box hats and beautiful vintage shoes.  It is a treat to wear the glamorous look of the 40’s and 50’s.
Any chance I was given I would buy vintage shoes. My collection eventually grew to 20 plus. Each pair just as beautiful as the next; each having their own story to tell. Who wore these beauties? Where did they wear them to? Did they wear them dancing or to the office? This is always the wonder of buying vintage…I love dreaming of the story!

Here is my story…This photo was taken of me modeling for a friend in the 80’s. I am wearing these beautiful vintage black with rhinestone and side cut out shoes. A time gone by…..One piece of the story told....

Vintage 1950's Swimsuits

SALE Vintage 1950s Blue Gathered Pin-Up SwimsuitSALE Vintage 1950s Blue Gathered Pin-Up SwimsuitSALE Vintage 1950s Blue Gathered Pin-Up SwimsuitThrough out my early years of collecting, I was lucky enough to find a few vintage swimsuits. Most of them dated from the 1950's. The 1950's was a time when body shaping swimwear was all the fashion. Many of these beauties had boning, full bra inserts and zippers. In the 50’s after the war the use of material was not so strained and they started adding pleats, gathers, ruching, folds etc. The swimsuits featured here are testimonies of that era.

The Discarded Gem….Vintage Treasures! I have been thrift store shopping for nearly 30 years now. What started out in the 80’s searching for the cool old clothes, jewelry and accessories has many, many years later turned into an online business for me. In my college days I was fortunate to be a part of vintage inspired fashion shows as a curator and model. I was surrounded by a group of friends who shared the same passion. This was the start of many vintage collections.  Now, many years later I still enjoy the search of that discarded gem that has past history and much history still to be made. As our world is changing buying vintage seems almost refreshing;   a way of recycling gems and bringing them new life…in a new era. For those who love vintage, I hope that you can find something you love through my shop.  Within my shop I sell vintage clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, home and kitchen décor as well as what I call vintage curiosities. Items featured are from the 40’s though to the 80’s. Many items for sell are from my personal collection that has been tucked away for years. It is now time for someone else to enjoy them as I have. In this photo, taken in the 80's, I am wearing these beautiful 1950's candy apple red shoes. Available through my on line shop. http://www.hipvintagesoul.etsy.com Enjoy a taste of my soul!
